Our state-wide training program is bringing passive house skills and knowledge to people all over Maine.
We’re always adding new training events to the list, so check back soon.
Our students are often ravenous for information pertaining to the culture of the construction industry in Maine and nervous about finding a community that matches their employment and philosophical desires. Students were inspired to find that people like themselves are well represented in the local industry and welcoming of new members.

passivhausMAINE trainings are coming to your city or town! We’re beginning our state-wide training program aimed at municipalities, to help train city staffers around building codes, Maine standards and passive design principles. We’re seeking municipalities that want to take part.
To connect with us, send an email to our training director, Erin Scally (erin@passivhausmaine.org).
passivhausMAINE is launching its classroom training series, bringing passive house principles, design fundamentals and excitement for building science to kids in Maine from kindergarten to 12th grade.
We’re calling educators, administrators, parents and partners. If you know of classrooms that would be interested in participating in the series and having our passive house training visit their students, please email our training director, Erin Scally (erin@passivhausmaine.org).
I wanted to reach out and say thank you for putting the women's training together. It exceeded my expectations and I walked away empowered. The program felt approachable and wildly informative. Well done!

Training curricula
Meeting Maine’s Energy Code
This training will teach new and experienced builders around (1) meeting the new MUBEC building and health codes as well as (2) understanding and implementing the most effective and modern practices for building long-lasting, low-carbon structures.
This in-person, one-day builder training, will focus on clarifying myths of advanced building, including air sealing strategies and thermal bridge mitigation as it relates to understanding the MUBEC code as well as the Stretch Code. We will include an introduction to materials which enhance building success as well as parsing the cost benefits. For this single day event, the goal is not to get lost in the minutia, but to provide a clear understanding of the principles behind the new codes and a pathway for gaining more information.
Planning a Maine Retrofit
This in-person, one-day builder training, Retrofits can present a number of complex and evolving challenges such as significant financial investments, complexity of and access to the building structure, and its overall disruptiveness to using the home. With an upfront understanding of the building and knowing a variety of practical approaches, meeting a fast track or long term phased approach to your retrofit goals can be achieved.
